Weather: Hail and thunder risk in Munster; possibility of spot flooding

Some showers will be heavy with the chance of hail, thunder and spot flooding.

Met Éireann has warned of periods of hail and thunder, and a risk of spot flooding, in the Munster region.

The forecaster said this Wednesday will be first be dull and wet, but expects that rain, drizzle, mist and fog will quickly clear to scattered showers and sunny spells. 

Some showers will be heavy with the chance of hail, thunder and spot flooding.

Cork and Munster will see highest temperatures of 11 to 13C in moderate to fresh south or southwest winds, strong near coasts.

Meanwhile, this evening will become drier with clear spells developing. Lowest temperatures will be 5 to 8C in moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds.

National outlook

According to the forecaster, the weather will become more settled through the weekend.

Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11C in moderate, occasionally fresh, south to southeast winds.

On Friday, cloud and rain will clear eastwards early on with sunny spells and scattered showers following. Some of the showers will be heavy and thundery, possibly merging to longer spells of rain at times through the day. 

There will be spells of sunshine on Saturday, as well as scattered showers, which will becoming more isolated later in the day. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13C in light to moderate west to northwest breezes.
