Thunderstorm warning will impact Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wicklow and Galway.

A thunderstorm warning has been issued for 19 counties, bringing the possibility of spot flooding and lightning damage.

Met Éireann updated an earlier warning and it is now in place from 3.11pm until 8pm on Tuesday. It will impact Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway, and Roscommon.

It comes as the weather is set to become more unsettled heading into the weekend.

Tuesday will see showers develop over the southern half of the country, and they will become more widespread in the afternoon.

It will still be mild, with temperatures reaching highs of 20C but on Tuesday night, the mercury will fall to lows of 4C.

Tuesday night will also see heavy showers early on in places, with patchy rain and drizzle over the southern half of the country. It will become largely dry by morning, with clear spells developing.

Wednesday will be a "dry and sunny day with just the chance of a few showers in the south" and temperatures reaching highs of 22C.

Thursday will follow suit, "with just the odd light shower possible", but it will be milder in some parts. Light to moderate northerly winds will bring a fresher feel to northern parts of Ulster and Connacht as well as near the Leinster coast, with highest temperatures of just 14C to 16C, but ranging from 17C to 21C elsewhere.

Met Éireann said Friday would start with dry and sunny spells, but rain or drizzle will develop in the west towards evening and spread eastwards.

Temperatures will range from 14C to 18C, while on Friday night it will stay mild, with lows of 10C to 14C. Friday night will also be mostly cloudy, with "patchy light rain, drizzle at first and with more persistent rain spreading eastwards overnight".

Saturday morning will be mostly cloudy, with rain in most areas. The rain will gradually clear eastwards, with scattered showers following from the west.

Meanwhile, Sunday "will be a bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers, most frequent in the west".
