The head of television current affairs at RTÉ has announced he is stepping down from his role after 21 years, “to seek new challenges”.

During his time as managing editor, Paul Maguire spearheaded some of the state broadcaster's main shows, including RTÉ Investigates, Prime Time, and Upfront with Katie Hannon.
