A man in his 30s arrested in connection with the murder of an inmate of Cloverhill prison on Saturday morning, has been released without charge.
The man was arrested on Saturday afternoon, was released from detention under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), a Garda spokesperson said.
His period of detention was due to expire later on Sunday, by which time he has to either be charged or released, pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Martin Salinger, 43, from Ballyfermot in Dublin was pronounced dead in a cell on the D1 landing after a row after 5.30am this morning.
Mr Salinger’s body remained in the prison on Saturday afternoon.
Sources said the scene of the death was a gruesome one.
Gardai arrested a man in his 30s this afternoon and are questioning him under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in West Dublin.
Investigations are ongoing, said a garda spokesman.
