McDonalds in Newbridge to reopen one year after major fire

Fire at McDonalds, Kildare

McDonalds has confirmed the reopening date of its restaurant chain in Newbridge, Co Kildare following a major fire at the site last August.

The branch will open its doors to customers once again from 11am on Wednesday, September 4, following an extensive reconstructive programme.

Last year, the Irish Examiner reported that Gardaí attended the scene of a fire at a McDonald's in Co Kildare.

McDonald's said the restaurant staff and customers were safely evacuated, "with no reported injuries".

A spokesperson said: "Our Newbridge restaurant in County Kildare closed on Tuesday afternoon after a serious fire started at the site. The Fire & Emergency Services are still in attendance at the scene and working to contain the fire."
