Man arrested after fatal assault in Kildare
An incident room has been established at Naas Garda Station.
An investigation has been launched following the fatal assault of a man in his 30s, at a residence in Kildare on Sunday.
The man was discovered with fatal injuries at a residential property in Sallins Park, Sallins, Co Kildare, shortly after 3.15am on Sunday.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.
A man in his early 20s was arrested at the property. He is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Co Kildare.
The body of the victim remains at the scene, which has been preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The local coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, and preparations are underway for a post-mortem examination.
A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the murder inquiry and an incident room has been established at Naas Garda Station.
A Garda family liaison officer has also been assigned to keep the deceased's family informed of developments.
"The investigation is ongoing," a Garda spokesperson said.
