The family of a five-year-old girl who was critically injured in a stabbing outside of her school in Dublin last November have said she is "doing wellā€ as she navigates her rehabilitation journey.

In an update, her family said their ā€œlittle warriorā€ has not stopped smiling or showcasing her curiosity, despite her immense setback.

ā€œThese past weeks have shown us even more so how resilient she is, but also put our own strength into check as we have to match her determination,ā€ the family said in an update shared to their Go Fund Me page on April 3.

The child was one of four victims who were attacked, which included two other children and a creche worker, outside Gaelscoil CholƔiste Mhuire on Parnell Square on November 23.

The family said the questions regarding their daughter's future as she enters her rehabilitation phase "are present".

Despite this, they are determined to remain hopeful, adding: "We have to believe in her, mainly because she does".

In a further update, the family said their little girl remains in hospital, with "no set date of discharge".

"Thank you for all the love sent our way," the family added.

The Go Fund Me fundraiser, named "Barróg do ChailĆn Beag", meaning "A hug for a little girl", has raised over €88,000 since its creation in November.

The fundraiser has amassed a huge number of donations, with over 4,100 people chipping in to help the five-year-old's family.

The attack in November led to a chain reaction of events that saw severe riots across Dublin city.

A 50-year-old man, Riad Bouchaker, appeared in Dublin District court in November, charged with the attempted murder of three children and the assault of creche worker Leanne Flynn during the Parnell Square incident.
