Two further deaths on Irish roads after collisions in Roscommon and Dublin

The number of people who have died on Irish roads has risen to 56.
A man in his 20s has died after a collision in Roscommon.
Shortly before 10pm on Wednesday evening, gardaí were called to an incident on the N61 Athlone Road at Newtown.
A car and lorry had collided on the road, with the driver of the car being removed to Portiuncala University Hospital.
He was pronounced dead a short time after.
The road remains closed this morning while garda forensics conduct an examination of the scene.
Separately, a woman in her 50s has died from her injuries after being struck by a van last Wednesday in Ringsend, Dublin.
The woman had been receiving treatment at St. Vincent’s University Hospital.
She passed away from her injuries on Saturday March 23.
An Garda Síochána are continuing to appeal to any witnesses of either collision to come forward.

The Roscommon crash took place less than a day after the death of a mother and her two children in Mayo.
Una Bowden, 47, and her daughters Ciara, 14, and Saoirse, 9 were on their way back from seeing family when their car collided with an articulated lorry on the N17 Galway to Sligo road near Claremorris.
