Milder conditions are forecast for the St Patrick's Day bank holiday weekend after a few days of unsettled weather, particularly in Cork and Kerry.

According to Met Éireann, the dull start to Friday will give way to longer, sunnier spells later this afternoon, with the best of these likely in the south and southeast. Temperatures today will range between 9C and 13C in moderate northwest winds, which will ease later in the day.

By Friday night however, rain and drizzle will have developed in the west and south, and temperatures may even fall below freezing for a time.

Saturday looks set to a wet and breezy day for most of the country, with the most persistent showers forecast for the southern half of the country. Highest temperatures Saturday will again range from 9C to 13C, though it will be somewhat cooler in the north.

Saturday night will be quite cloudy, damp and misty. With temperatures ranging between 6C and 10C in moderate southwesterly winds.

Met Éireann says St Patrick’s Day will get off to a cloudy and damp start, with scattered showers and some sunny spells developing from the early afternoon onwards. Unfortunately for parade-goers, the forecaster says that some of these showers may turn heavy at times. Temperatures Sunday will be mild, ranging from 12C to 15C.

Rain will begin to move eastwards overnight on Sunday, with spells for further heavy rain likely.

Weather-wise, Monday looks set to be the best day of the Bank Holiday weekend, with sunnier spells forecast for most areas, though things will be a little cloudier in the south. Top temperatures on Monday will range from 12C to 15C.
