Five-year-old girl stabbed in Dublin back in intensive care

The little girl was taken to Temple Street Children's Hospital following the incident where she underwent emergency surgery.

A five-year-old girl critically injured after being stabbed in the chest outside of her school in Dublin has returned to the ICU. 

The little girl was taken to Temple Street Children's Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. 

She remained in the Intensive Care Unit before being released into the general wardin December. 

However, in an update on Tuesday, the family of the young girl said they "had a bit of a setback" and said she was back in the ICU. 

"We had a bit of a setback and are currently in the ICU once more," they said on the GoFundMe page that was set up for the little girl. 

The page, titled Barróg do Chailín Beag (A Hug for a Little Girl) has received over €70,000 in donations following the incident. 

"Bumps in the road, particularly this long one, are to be expected. Nevertheless, we are still positive and hoping to get back on the ward. Fingers crossed," the family added. 

A 50-year-old man, Riad Bouchaker, appeared in Dublin District court charged with the attempted murder of three children and the assault of creche worker Leanne Flynn during the Parnell Square incident.
