Oliver Callan has been named as the replacement for Ryan Tubridy's 9am weekday slot on RTÉ Radio 1.
The satirist, 43, has been among the presenters who stood in for Mr Tubridy following his departure back in June.
Mr Callan will present the radio show on weekdays from 9am to 10am, from January 29 onwards.
The announcement was made on Saturday morning on the Brendan O' Connor show on RTÉ's Radio 1.
The award-winning impressionist has previously worked on the hit show , that has been running on RTÉ Radio 1 since 2012.
Mr Callan said the announcement "will finally stop every person I meet from asking about it".
"Mostly though, because 2024 is set to be the best possible year for being part of the national conversation, with seminal moments in elections, sport and culture coming," he said.
Head of RTÉ Radio 1, Peter Woods, said: "We've known Oliver for a long time, not least through . He came in at the start of the covid lockdown and gave the whole country a lift."
The "accomplished broadcaster", who already has a connection with the RTÉ Radio 1 audience, has the "full support" of the team for his new endeavour, Mr Woods said.
