Investigation launched after body found on Aran Islands

Gardaí have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body off the Galway coast.

The body was found on the shoreline on Inis Oírr on Monday afternoon.

It was taken to University Hospital Galway where an autopsy will take place.

Details of the deceased have not been released at this time.

Gardaí say the investigation is ongoing.
