Cyclist, 50s, dies after colliding with railing in Co Laois
The road is currently closed as gardaí carry out a technical examination of the scene
A cyclist has died after colliding with a railing in Co Laois on Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened on College Avenue, Mountmellic, at around 4.30pm.
The man, aged in his 50s was taken to Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise to receive treatment, but passed away on Sunday night.
An autopsy will take place in due course.
The road is currently closed as gardaí carry out a technical examination of the scene. Diversions are currently in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to gardaí.
