Body of woman, 70s, found on side of road in Leitrim

The body of a woman in her 70s was discovered at the side of a road in Leitrim on Monday evening.

The tragic scene unfolded on the Manorhamilton Road at around 10.30pm last night.

Ambulance services attended the scene and medical treatment was provided to the woman, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner has been notified and her body was removed for post-mortem examination.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
