Get the woolly hat out – Ireland’s set for some chilly weather this weekend

We love to complain about the weather, but even the grumpiest among us have to admit that it’s generally been unseasonably warm for the last couple of months.

But that’s all about to change now folks, and there could even be some snow on the way.

Met Éireann has forecast “strong and gusty northwesterly winds reaching gale force” for tonight, with “lowest temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees with ground frost developing in many areas”.

The Dublin weather centre has also predicted that some frost will develop on Saturday night, “sharp or severe in midland and eastern areas”.

Of course, we all know that strong northerly winds bring some chilly conditions, and this weekend is no exception.

Metrogroup UK has forecast touch of frost in places for tonight, as well as “wintry showers, particularly near the northern and western coast, falling as sleet or snow even at low levels”.

Keep warm folks!
