A number of units of the Dublin Fire Brigade have been battling a blaze on the southside of the city.

The alarm was first raised at around 2.30pm when a member of the public spotted black plumes of smoke rising into the sky near a derelict building in Carrickmines.

Firefighters from Dun Laoghaire, Donnybrook and Tara Street stations managed to bring the blaze under control and there are no reports of any injuries.

The fire is believed to have started in a carpark near an abandoned building and an investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.
