Truck driver dies in Westmeath accident

A man has died after a truck he was driving left the road in Co Westmeath.

The single-vehicle accident happened on the N52 between Mullingar and Delvin in the townland of Williamstown, this afternoon at around 12.30pm.

The man in his late 40s was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Mullingar Regional Hospital.

The road is currently closed for a forensic examination by Gardaí and diversions are in place.
