Inquest into tragic deaths of Charleville brothers returns open verdict

The inquest into the deaths of three brothers in Charleville last September has returned an open verdict.

Earlier, it heard that the twin boys died after being stabbed over 40 times each and their older brother died by suicide.

Jonathan O'Driscoll (aged 21) stabbed his nine-year old twin brothers Thomas and Patrick at their home in Deerpark in Charleville.

He took his own life a short time later in nearby Buttevant.

The deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis has concluded that the cause of death for both twins was multiple stab wounds and death by hanging for Jonathan.

The DPP has indicated that no prosecution will be made in relation to the case.
