No jail for man who repeatedly raped girlfriend as she slept

A man in his 20s who repeatedly raped his girlfriend while she slept has avoided jail time, after being sentenced to a seven year suspended sentence.
Magnus Meyer Hustveit had pleaded guilty to sexual assault between October 2011 and April of 2012 in a Dublin apartment.
The 25-year-old Norwegian national told the victim in an email after the abuse came to light that he had been using her body for "gratification" for nearly a year.
The woman, who waived her right to anonymity, had told the court that a bed no longer represented a place of rest or sanctuary but rather a place of torture.
In sentencing, Judge Patrick McCarthy said there was no precedent for the case and he had to take into account that the crime would not have been possible to prosecute without Mr Hustveit's admission.
