Tusla discovers more than 800 'unacknowledged' garda referrals

The Child and Family Agency has confirmed that a number of "unidentified files" have been discovered in the Laois / Offaly area - including 822 unacknowledged Garda referrals.

An immediate review has been commissioned by Tusla, to determine which, if any, of these may have been acted upon.

They have also ordered a comprehensive review of all 700 files to be completed by Friday May 8.

The documents were discovered following the implementation of a new framework at the agency, designed to improve services and accountability.
