A man has been arrested after reports of gunfire in Dublin.

Gardaí seized a firearm, ammunition and a knife following the arrest of a 47-year-old man at Ballyfermot Parade at around 11pm last night.

Two uniformed Gardaí from the Ballyfermot Community Police Unit responded to a report of gun shots being heard coming from the Kylemore Park area.

They approached and disarmed the man at Ballyfermot Parade following a violent struggle.

The man was arrested and is being held at Ballyfermot Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
