Woman seriously hurt in Offaly hotel balcony fall

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from a hotel balcony in Co Offaly in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened shortly after 1am at the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore.

It is thought the 18-year-old was attending a wedding at the time and fell, head first, from a first floor balcony onto a parked car underneath.

She was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore but later transferred to Beaumont hospital in Dublin where her condition is described as critical.

Gardaí say they are not treating the incident as suspicious.
