Govt publishes plan for sale of Bord Gáis Energy

The Government has officially published plans to sell off Bord Gáis Energy.

The Gas Regulation Bill will see Bord Gáis split into two companies, with one company taking control of the physical network.

The other company will take control of the energy business and could be sold by the end of the year.

It is thought that the sale could raise up to €1.5bn, half of which will eventually go towards paying down Ireland's national debt.
