John Perry's debts something 'small business can identify with' - Varadkar

Leo Varadkar has expressed full confidence in his colleague John Perry.

Pressure is mounting on the Junior Minister for Small Business following a €2.47m judgment against him and his wife in the Commercial Court earlier this week.

Varadkar said he does not believe the Sligo-Leitrim TD's position is in jeopardy.

"I think businesses running into trouble and the problems with debts and banks are something that most people in small business can identify with," he said.

"In many ways, it kind of shows that he understands the problems being faced by small business."

Previously, Fianna Fáil called for Perry to clarify his actions in dealing with the banks in both his personal and professional lives.
