Unite to decide on action after other unions vote on deal
The Unite Trade Union has deferred making a decision on what action to take following rejection of the Haddington Road deal.
The union's leadership said it would wait to see how other unions voted on the proposal before deciding on its next step.
Almost three quarters of members voted against the deal, which has been proposed as a replacement for the previously rejected Croke Park 2 document.
Unite represents around 6,000 of the Government's 290,000 employees and joins the CPSU and two of the main teachers unions, the TUI and the ASTI, in remaining opposed to the deal.
The union's regional secretary Jimmy Kelly said Unite is not going to rush a decision.
He said: "The best next step is to review the result of other ballots across the other unions, for example there could be a massive rejection of Haddington Road as there was a massive rejection of Croke Park 2.
"We are wanting to see those ballots to see what the position is within all of the unions.
