Ireland is to sign an historic Arms Trade Treaty in New York this afternoon.

Ireland is to sign an historic Arms Trade Treaty in New York this afternoon.

The landmark agreement means that states who sign up to the treaty will be prohibited from exporting arms to countries, if they know the weapons will be used to commit gross violations of human rights.

The treaty will be signed at the UN Headquarters at 3pm.
