A Cork man has drowned in a diving accident off the island of Koh Tao in Thailand.

A Cork man has drowned in a diving accident off the island of Koh Tao in Thailand.

Colin Callanan from Innishannon, died in the tragic accident over the weekend.

According to the Irish Examiner, the 29-year-old father of one was on a business trip.

A project manager with Australian company AMS services and maintenance, he had been based in Perth for the past six years.

Mr Callanan's body has been recovered and the Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to his family.

He is survived by his son Lee, who lives in Ireland, and by his mother Marie, father Donal, and two brothers and two sisters.
