Hogan: New regulations will avoid future Priory Halls
The Environment Minister Phil Hogan has said new building regulations will avoid any future Priory Halls being built.
Residents of the North Dublin complex were evacuated 18 months ago due to fire safety concerns.
Under the new measures, building works will be inspected at key stages during construction.
The Department said the regulations set out to prevent poorly constructed buildings, pyrite damage and structures breaching fire regulations.
Minister Phil Hogan said the Priory Hall saga demonstrated why building control and fire safety needed to be tackled and "make sure the consumer gets the maximum possible protection in the future".
