NAMA loses appeal over requests for environmental information

The High Court has today dismissed an appeal by the National Asset Management Agency (Nama) against a ruling by the Commissioner for Environmental Information that it is a public authority and therefore subject to information requests.

The commissioner, Emily O'Reilly, ruled in September 2011 that Nama is a public authority within the meaning of provisions of the 2007 European (Access to Information on the Environment) Regulations and therefore should be subject to Access to Information on the Environment requests.
