Tourism Minister Leo Varadkar is the North today to meet his counterpart in the Northern Irish Executive, Minister Arlene Foster.

Tourism Minister Leo Varadkar is the North today to meet his counterpart in the Northern Irish Executive, Minister Arlene Foster.

Leo Varadkar's trip to Enniskillen is an historic one, marking the first-ever visit by an Irish minister to the North on the 12th of July.

The two ministers are expected to discuss developments in tourism on the island of Ireland in 2012.

Minister Varadkar also met with some Orange Order members from the border counties, both north and south.

"Since becoming a minister I have placed a particular emphasis on working with the Executive in Northern Ireland to develop our tourism industry on an all-island basis," Minister Varadkar said.

"So when Minister Foster invited me to visit her hometown of Enniskillen on July 12, I felt it would be an important gesture to accept the offer."
