Jobs Minister Richard Bruton has expressed wariness about increasing the cost of doing business, after Social Protection Minister Joan Burton indicated she would be in favour of a hike in PRSI contributions from employers and workers.

Speaking at a Labour Party event over the weekend, Minister Burton said the benefits paid out by the State far exceed employer/employee PRSI contributions, and that "something has to give".
