HSE criticises 'inaccurate' report that sex offender was housed with homeless teens

The HSE has described as "inaccurate and uncorroborated" reports in the Limerick Post newspaper today about the housing of a convicted sex offender in a unit for homeless teenagers of both sexes.

The Limerick Post claims the 18-year-old who was convicted of rape was sent to the emergency care unit on the orders of senior HSE management after his release from St Patrick's detention centre in Dublin just over a month ago.

In a statement this evening the HSE said the acrticle was based on a significant number of inaccuracies.

The HSE said the identification in the newspaper of the location of the facility put the young people living there at risk and added that the Post had not contacted the HSE before publishing the article.
