A Limerick woman who faces charges of murdering a father of two in Dublin last year and IRA membership appeared at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today.

Rose Lynch was charged last December with the murder of Mr David Darcy, who was shot dead while sitting in his van at Cherry Orchard Avenue on the morning of November 28 last.

Mr Darcy, who was employed as a driver for a local butcher and was originally from Ballyfermot, had been about to go to work when he was killed.

Lynch, 49, with an address at Oakleigh Wood, Dooradoyle, Limerick is also charged with membership of an illegal organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army, otherwise the IRA, otherwise Óglaigh na hÉireann on November 28 last year.

Lynch also faces a number of other charges including possession of a shotgun and revolver with intent to endanger life on November 28, possession of a Walther pistol and eight rounds of ammunition on a date between November 25 and December 14 last year and possession of 25 rounds of 9 mm ammunition at the Naas Road, Dublin on December 15.

Prosecution solicitor Ms Helen Kealy told the court that Lynch has been sent forward from the District Court for trial at the Special Criminal Court.

Mr Justice Garret Sheehan, presiding, remanded Lynch in custody until April 27 next when the case will be mentioned again.
