Man named in fatal Cork row
A man who died following a row in Cork city in the early hours of this morning has been named locally as Gerard Delaney from Mahon.
Gardai in Cork are expected to launch a murder investigation shortly after the 51-year-old sustained head injuries and stab wounds in a fight outside a pub in Ballyphehane.
Shortly after 12.30am this morning a fight broke out inside the Manhattan Bar on Lower Friar's walk.
The row spilled out onto the street outside the man sustained serious injuries.
It is understood he suffered head and stab injuries at the scene and was brought by his friends to a house in Ballyphehane.
From there he was taken to Cork University Hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Results from a postmortem examination are expected shortly and Gardai will then decide how to proceed with the investigation.
Gardaí believe last night’s incident is related to an ongoing feud between two families on the southside of Cork city which has been ongoing for over a year.
They are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Togher garda staton.
