Man U top 'favoured-team ' list in survey of 7,200 pupils
New figures have given an insight into the minds of Ireland's secondary school students.
More than 7,000 young people were questioned for the survey from the Central Statistics Office, on topics including favourite subjects, sports team, and methods of communication.
Just over 7,200 young people were questioned for this 'Census at School' study, between August last year and June of this year.
It shows that P.E. is the favourite amongst the boys, although their interest in the subject wanes as they get older. The girls questioned in the study chose Art as their favourite subject.
Manchester United came top in preferred sports teams, followed by Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.
When it comes to the media, fewer than 10% of students use the papers as their primary source of news, compared to 39% saying it was TV and just over 19% catching up with evets on the internet.
Their favourite stories come from the worlds of celebrity, music and film, although boys strongly preferred sports themes.
