Adams: McGuinness a President for the whole of Ireland
Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams has said Martin McGuinness would be a President for the whole island, and not just for the 26 counties.
Gerry Adams confirmed earlier that his party was proposing the north's Deputy First Leader as a Presidential candidate.
The proposal is expected to be ratified at the party's Ard Comhairle meeting on Sunday.
Gerry Adams has told BBC Radio Ulster that Martin McGuinness would do a good job of continuing President McAleese's good work.
"There's a need for the work that has been done by President Mary McAleese to be continued, in terms of the inclusivity, the outreach right across the island," he said.
