At least 16 people were killed in the blast at the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

Witnesses say a group of men drove a vehicle packed with explosives into the compound.

No Irish nationals are known to have been killed or injured in the attack.

The wife of an Irish national was in the building at the time of the explosion but is understood to be safe.

World leaders have roundly criticised the attack.
