Allied Irish Banks said today that it intends to bring a High Court action seeking the return of documents and customer details which the bank claims are in the possession of a Co Corkman.

Allied Irish Banks said today that it intends to bring a High Court action seeking the return of documents and customer details which the bank claims are in the possession of a Corkman.

The bank was previously given permission by the Court to bring proceedings compelling Mr Martin Neville, Glenny, Riverstick Co Cork to return to the bank documents, records and equipment in his possession which AIB claims is the property of the bank.

AIB is also seeking an orders compelling Mr Neville to disclose the location of documents or data he has that belongs to the bank or that refers to the the bank's customers and an order restraining him from disclosing the documents or data held by him to any third party other than those required by law.

Today when the matter was briefly mentioned before the High Court Paul Fogarty Bl for the bank said that it had not been possible to serve Mr Neville with the proceedings, and asked that the matter be further adjourned.

No details were given concerning the exact nature, volume or amount of information the bank claims Mr Neville has in his possession or how he allegedly acquired the data.

Mr Justice John Cooke agreed to the adjournment the put the matter back to early next month.
