Barrett to host high-level Chinese delegation
Ceann Comhairle Sean Barrett is to host a high-level Chinese delegation today.
The group, which includes high-ranking members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, will stay in Ireland until Sunday.
DeputyBarrett will escort the group on a courtesy call to Áras an Úachtaráin this afternoon, and over the coming days they will visit tourist attractions in Dublin, Co. Wicklow, Co. Clare, and Co. Kerry.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Mr Barrett said it highlights the interest both sides have in developing economic and cultural links as trade between the countries continues to grow.
Exports to China reached €2.4bn in 2009, while bilateral trade is worth more than €6.5bn annually.
