Lenihan: Ministerial severance payments in place for some time

Outgoing Finance Minister Brian Lenihan today said that severance packages for Ministers have been a settled feature of pay arrangements for "a long number of years".

Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has come under fire for accepting the pay-off to compensate him for the loss of a minister's salary.
