Rescue attempt underway on Lugnaquillia

Mountain Rescue Teams are attempting to recover a man who has gotten into difficulty this afternoon on Lugnaquillia.

It is believed the man in his 50s fractured his kneecap after slipping near the summit at around 3pm.

Mountain Rescue Teams are en route to attend to the man but changeable weather may hinder helicopter rescue efforts.

Other hillwalkers are staying with the injured man until further help arrives.
