Appleby warns of delay in Anglo investigation decision

The Director of Corporate Enforcement said today that it will be some time before the DPP can decide if there will be any charges arising from the investigation into Anglo Irish Bank.
Paul Appleby says 2010 was an extremely busy year as the number of issues dealt with by the office increased by 1,000 - from 1,400 in 2009 to 2,400 in 2010.
He says most of the pressure came from the three-fold increase in the number of insolvent liquidations since 2008.
In relation to Anglo, Mr Appleby says he prioritised the investigation into the now State-owned lender, but due to the sheer volume of documents sent over to the DPP it may be some time before charges, if any, are preferred.
