Court remands two on weapons charges

Two men were remanded in custody tonight after appearing in court on separate weapons charges.

Paul O’Neill was brought before Dublin District Court accused of possessing two-sub Ingram machine guns and two rounds of ammunition.

He was arrested at an industrial estate in Mulhuddart in the north of the city on Wednesday after a Garda sting operation on organised crime gangs.

The Court Service said the 38-year-old, of Smithfield Terrace in Dublin 7, was remanded in prison to appear before Cloverhill Court on September 30.

Earlier Glen Holland, of Dublin’s north inner city, faced five charges including possession of cocaine for sale or supply, valued at €70,000.

He was also charged with unlawful possession of a 9mm calibre Taurus semi automatic pistol and a 9mm calibre Luger semi automatic pistol, and of having rounds of ammunition for both.

The 27-year-old, of Rory O’Connor House on Hardwick Street, was arrested on Monday by detectives investigating the murder of crime boss Eamon Dunne.

Two other people also questioned over the shooting dead of Mr Dunne in the Fassaugh House pub in Cabra on April 24 were released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the DPP.

The Court Service said Holland was remanded in prison to appear in Cloverhill Court on October 1.
