Anglo headquarters finally gets planning permission
Planning permission has been granted for the proposed Anglo HQ in Dublin's docklands to finally be finished.
Court procedures meant the building was left uncompleted on Dublin's quays for several years.
One of the companies in property developer Liam Carroll's collapsed Zoe group drew down €40m from Anglo Irish Bank to begin construction on new HQ for the bank
The Dublin Docklands Development Authority had fast-tracked planning permission on the condition that Mr Carrol give some land on the former Brooks Thomas site on North Wall Quay back to the Authority so it could build a park.
But construction was then halted in 2008 when rival developer Sean Dunne was successful in a court challenge to the DDDA's fast-tracking of planning permission for the office blocks - saying the confidential agreement could be considered bias.
Now An Bord Pleanala has granted permission for the building to be finished
The only option open to Mr Dunne is to call for a judicial review of the decision - he has eight weeks to lodge a further appeal.
