Last year 'traumatic' for Gardaí

The President of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors has said the last 12 months were the most "traumautic and difficult" in 32 years for the Force.

Addressing more than 150 delegates gathered for the association's annual conference in Galway this evening, Dan Hanley urged Dermot Ahern to lift the recruitment and promotions embargo.

In his speech in Galway, Mr Hanley also appealed to the Justice Minister to reverse the pay cuts enforced in the Budget.
