Gardaí in Dublin are continuing to question a man in his 20s today over a so-called tiger raid in the city yesterday.

The partner of a young woman who works at the Permanent tsb branch in Phibsboro is understood to have been kidnapped by an armed gang yesterday morning.

His girlfriend was then contacted by phone and told to take a large sum of money from the bank.

She was ordered to leave the money at a location in Cabra West, but reports this morning say members of the public witnessed the drop and contacted the Gardaí.

Detectives who arrived on the scene subsequently arrested a man whom they believe was planning to collect the money.

The cash was recovered and the bank worker's partner was released unharmed.
