Body recovered from river in Antrim search

Search teams looking for a 14-year-old boy in Co Antrim have today recovered a body from the river Bush.

The boy went missing two days ago, when he jumped into the water to rescue a dog.

James Elliott jumped into the river Bush near Stranocum in Co Antrim on Thursday to rescue a dog that was being swept away. Attempts by his father Clive to rescue James were unsuccessful.

A major search operation was launched, and the PSNI say the body of a teenage male was taken from the river at about 2.15pm this afternoon.

A post mortem is expected to be carried out.

In an unrelated incident, the body of a young man, also believed to be in his teens, has been recovered from the River Bann in Co Armagh.

It follows reports that someone had entered the water beside Derrycarne Road in Portadown.

The PSNI are investigating.
