Arrests and petrol-bombs follow Derry parade
Police in Derry have arrested more than 20 people after violence broke out and a number of petrol bombs were thrown following the annual Apprentice Boys’ parade.
The parade itself passed off largely peacefully, despite being delayed by the discovery of two suspicious objects which were declared elaborate hoaxes by the PSNI.
But in the aftermath of the event groups of youths congregated and began throwing petrol bombs.
In all 26 people were arrested and there were no reports of any serious injuries.
Meanwhile three men were arrested after a man was assaulted at Coleraine railway station following an incident there.
A group of people smashed windows on a train and a bus at the station.
A man in his forties sustained head injuries and was taken to hospital but his condition is not life-threatening.
