Moriarty Tribunal to resume public sittings in Dublin

The Moriarty Tribunal is due to hold more public sittings at Dublin Castle this morning as it continues to investigate the awarding of Ireland's second mobile phone licence.

The tribunal had finished up its public hearings, but resumed sittings earlier this year to examine new information relevant to its investigations.

The lucrative mobile phone licence was awarded to the ESAT Digiphone consortium put together by businessman Denis O'Brien, who made around €250m when he subsequently sold the company.

During the weekend, Mr O'Brien revealed that the tribunal has made 60 "negative findings" against him in a provisional report circulated to the relevant parties.
