Judge refuses Cork defendant's plea for murder trial to be held in Dublin
A date has been set for the trial of a 24-year-old man accused of murdering a 62-year-old man in Cork city last year.
Paul Murphy, of Kilmore Road, Knocknaheeny, Cork, will be tried by the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork on March 9, 2010.
An application by the defendant to have the trial in Dublin was refused by Mr Justice Paul Carney who heard that more than 100 witnesses from Cork would be called during the trial.
Mr Murphy is accused of murdering Donal Manley at a house on High Street, Cork, on October 10, 2008.
